Danielle Aitchison Breaks 100m T36 World Record

Danielle Aitchison has reclaimed the 100m T36 World Record in Sydney, Australia. Aitchison ran 13.23s to break the current record mark of 13.35s by China’s Shi Yiting.
Aitchison formerly held the record at 13.41s set at the New Zealand Track and Field Championships in 2024.
Aitchison was racing in the women’s mixed-classification Para 100m final at the Australian Track and Field Championships, held at the Sydney Olympic Park. Aitchison won the race with a performance that was 103.40% of the previous world record. Mixed classification Para events are decided based on a percentage of the world record.
Moments later, Will Stedman broke his own NZ 100m T36 record with a 12.29s performance. Stedman’s previous record mark was set at 12.35s at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
