The Sour: Wāhine Grunge-Punk Quartet New Single 'Hex'
Tāmaki Makaurau-based four-piece The Sour are a band of badass wāhine bonded by a shared love of grunge, punk, and all things loud and heavy. The group release their debut EP Daughters on May 1st 2026.

The first single from the EP, ‘Your God & Mine’, debuted at #1 on the bFM Top 10 and quickly grabbed the attention of listeners, DJs, and tastemakers across Aotearoa, cementing the band as one of the most exciting new heavy acts to watch.
The second single from the upcoming EP, ‘Hex’ (out today), is a grungy slackers’ anthem about revenge and being underestimated. If you’ve got some rage to work through, you’re revelling in a bit of schadenfreude, or you’re considering placing a hex on someone, this track is absolutely for you. Either way, it’s a banger built for repeat listens.
Daughters captures the band’s love of heavy riffs, gritty hooks, and unapologetic attitude, while celebrating friendship, whakapapa, and the power of wāhine making loud music together.
To celebrate the release of Daughters, The Sour are performing two shows in Te Ika-a-Māui this May.
Catch them live at Auckland’s Whammy Bar on Saturday May 9th, joined by Maebh & The Morrigan and Paul Cathero.
They’ll then head to Wellington’s Moon Bar on Saturday May 16t,h with support from Dateband and The Early 20’s.
