University Sport seeks further professional Board members
University Sport New Zealand confirmed today that it is seeking three professional board members to add to its Executive Board.
“Students want greater professionalism in how we govern tertiary sport for students, while retaining the spirited student edge”, said Darel Hall President of University Sport New Zealand.
“USNZ members have agreed to an Executive board structure that removes some elected members and has created three new appointed positions.
“These appointed positions are intended to fill the gaps that USNZ does not have and is unlikely to see in elected members of the Executive. The gaps identified are:
Business Networks.
Sporting Excellence of international standard.
ICT.
Legal.
“On behalf of students, I wish to invite nominations of people that have the interest, enthusiasm and ability to help us recapture the majesty of student sport in terms of excellence in performance of student athletes and the sheer good fun and exuberance that comes from participation.
“The commitment is small as is the remuneration, but the potential rewards are huge.
“Board members will govern an organisation that has professional management and a high profile sponsor in USIT BEYOND TRAVEL. Now we want the icing on the cake”, Mr Hall said.
Ends.
