Schools Receive Much Needed Funds
Schools Receive Much Needed Funds
Schools throughout New Zealand have been raising much needed funds this year by holding a Golden Circle School Fun Run event. To date, 90 schools have raised a combined total of more than $270,000, with many schools yet to hold their event. Funds raised have enabled schools to purchase much needed resources including new sports and playground equipment, computers and library books.
Last year over 230 New Zealand schools raised a combined total of more than $750,000 for school equipment and resources.
Each school elects the type of event they would like to participate in – some of these include a Cross Country, Fun Run, Fun Walk and Dance-a-thon. Each student is asked to obtain sponsorship for each kilometre they complete, or alternatively seek a donation simply for participating.
“Golden Circle are pleased to support schools in their fundraising efforts through the School Fun Run program” says Mr Bryan Winter, General Manager of Golden Circle New Zealand.
“Our sponsorship includes providing every student with a thank you gift, for helping raise funds for the school, and an icy fruit stick to enjoy on completion of their event. More importantly the program promotes health and fitness for the students and there is no financial outlay or inconvenience to the school”, says Mr Winter.
In addition to this, every participant raising $10.00 or more for his or her school selects an incentive prize from 10 prize categories.
The Golden Circle School Fun Run Program has been warmly welcomed by many schools and groups throughout New Zealand, struggling for extra funding. Schools note increased participation and motivation of students when participating in this event.
Many students have achieved outstanding results, including the Term 2 Highest Fundraising Student, who raised a total of $500.20 for his school.
