Applications for eCDF and IDF closing date extends

Applications for eCDF and IDF closing date extended until 10 October 2003

Tertiary education organisations now have an extra two weeks to bid for the $34 million of new funding for innovative and e-learning projects, announced today by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) Chair Andy West.

The e-Learning Collaborative Development Fund (eCDF) and the Innovation and Development Fund (IDF) make available $34 million for projects that build capability within the tertiary education system.

“While we have received a larger number of high quality bids and we would not normally make these sorts of exceptions, we are mindful that the sector has been busy preparing their Charters,” Dr West said.

“Some organisations have also been preparing their Performance Based Research Fund (PBRF) applications. Because we are enforcing strict timetables around Charters and Profiles and the PBRF we believe it is reasonable for us to extend this particular timetable.

“To minimise any possible disadvantage to those institutions that have already prepared their bids, we invite them to take the extra time to rework or enhance their bids if they consider such an action would be warranted. While there is no obligation to enhance existing bids I wanted to highlight that the opportunity to do so now exists,” Dr West said.

There will be no extension beyond the final deadline of Friday 10 October 2003.
