QPEC Govt Must Abandon Invercargill-Hutt Closures
QPEC Asking Government to Abandon School Closure plans for Invercargill , Upper Hutt etc
QPEC welcomes the government’s backdown over school closures and its 5 year moratorium on further reviews.
We congratulate the parents and schools in communities throughout New Zealand who have brought about this dramatic positive policy shift in education.
It is interesting that this decision has come about just a day before parents led by Upper Hutt mothers are to march on parliament to protest the interim decisions to close of their schools.
We are calling on Trevor Mallard to meet the marchers and declare that these tentative decisions to close and merge schools in these areas will be abandoned.
It’s the only fair option for the children, parents and schools involved.
