Kidicorp geared for growth

Negative sentiments expressed by some owners of early childhood education centres regarding increased administrative workloads to meet the new Ministry of Education funding system are misleading, says Kidicorp executive director, Wayne Wright

With 75 centres, Kidicorp is New Zealand’s largest provider of private early childhood education.

Wayne Wright says the Ministry’s strategic plan, Pathways to the Future: Ngä Huarahi Arataki and a new funding plan are key elements in the drive to increase the professionalism of the early childhood education sector.

“We were all notified of the upcoming changes and at Kidicorp we got on with developing systems to implement the changes.

“Taking on board the Ministry’s requests, we have developed our own advice and guidance programme to assist our teachers with registration and we have improved data collection and administration programmes to supply the information required. We have tasked specialist administration people, both at centres and in our central office in Tauranga, so as to be able to increase the time teachers can work with the children

“In addition our programme to increase and improve resources at our centres, is well underway along with a comprehensive building upgrade programme – we are geared for growth.

“Quality early childhood education is our objective and parents acknowledge this through their decision to use Kidicorp centres,” says Wayne Wright.
