Student earning jump at Student Job Search -Manawatu
Palmerston North students have earned over 3.7 million through Student Job Search -Manawatu. The tertiary employment service has seen student earnings rocket from 2.64 million last summer to 3.77 million this summer.
It’s a great time to be a student in Palmerston North, it’s certainly the real student city said Barry Dowell, regional manage of Student Job Search -Manawatu. Local business support has been very strong with many of them using SJS not just for seasonal peak demands, but for more skilled work.”
“Duration jobs, work which is 4 weeks or more have increased around 20%, and the average hourly rate has seen a strong improvement with the average hourly rate now just under $12.00 in the city, all very pleasing and in line with our strategy to secure more quality type employment” said Mr Dowell.
“Being a student has its financial pressures and the summer is a really important time to secure work and pay bills and save for the next years study, and it the local Palmerston North support which is really appreciated so much” said Mr Dowell.
Student Job Search is a not for profit organisation owned by local student’s associations which is funded by government via Study Link.
