New Council Chair for Unitec
Ted van Arkel, the former managing director of supermarket giant Progressive Enterprises Ltd (PEL), is the new Chair of Unitec New Zealand’s Council.
The Unitec Council accepted the resignation of Alan Dickinson, who stepped down as Chair for personal reasons after serving in the role since 2002, with sincere regret but Mr Dickinson will continue to serve as a Council member.
Mr van Arkel was the sole nominee to replace him and was elected by Council with acclamation.
Mr van Arkel was educated at Mt Albert Grammar School and retired from PEL in 2004 after a long and successful career in the retail sector. He sits on a number of private and public boards, including as Chairperson of Charlie’s Group Limited.
