Eisenhower Fellowship Seeking New Zealand Leaders
The search is on to find New Zealand's top emerging leader for acceptance into the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship in 2008.
Considered to be one of the world's most sought after endorsements, the Eisenhower Fellowship is headed by former Secretary of State General Colin Powell and other great American political leaders such as George Bush senior and Henry Kissinger.
Founded in 1953 as a tribute to Dwight Eisenhower, the fellowship identifies 25 emerging leaders from around the world and brings them to America for two months which sees them visit 12 cities and attend between 60 and 80 meetings with the cream of American leaders in their respective fields.
The criteria for New Zealand applicants is that they must have between five to 10 years of exemplary leadership and they should be between 35 and 45.
The last recipient was Paul Tapsell of the Auckland Museum who said being chosen as a fellow was one of the greatest moments in his life and the learnings in America were invaluable for his career and future.
Applicants must also demonstrate energy and motivation to make a difference and be committed to return to their own country to share their new found knowledge and experience and be dedicated to their country's leadership.
The successful New Zealand applicant will be fully funded to travel with their spouse or partner to America early next year and applications close on April 11, 2007.
Applicants should apply to the Hon Administrator, New Zealand Eisenhower Fellowship, Rozelle Edwards at rozelle@xtra.co.nz.
The New Zealand selection panel is chaired by businessman Mark Sainsbury who is also a former Eisenhower Fellow and includes former Attorney General Paul East QC, Julian Miles QC, Waitakere Mayor Bob Harvey and ASB Trust Chief Executive Jennifer Gill.
