Commissioner Appointed For Selwyn College
The Secretary for Education, Karen
Sewell, has appointed Collene Roche as the commissioner for
Selwyn College to replace the board, effective from 22nd
January 2009.
Collene Roche, currently the specialist adviser at the college, has been appointed with all functions, powers and duties of the board.
The Education Review Office recently completed a report that makes recommendations in a number of areas for Selwyn College. The report, along with a Ministry review of the current intervention, identified that outcomes need to be met in the following areas:
• Quality of Education
•
Governance
• Community Engagement
Collene Roche has a depth of experience in working with schools that require support. She was principal at Carmel College, on Auckland’s North Shore, for twelve years and chaired the Auckland Secondary Principal’s Association for two years.
