Evidence-Based Educational Thought Leadership
The Cognition Institute Leads The Way In Evidence-Based Educational Thought Leadership
The Cognition Education Trust announced its major new philanthropic initiative when it launched the Cognition Institute in Auckland on Saturday night.
The Cognition Institute is intended to be a thought leader in New Zealand education dedicated to improving teaching and learning in schools through research and policy.
“This is an extremely exciting initiative for New Zealand education,” said Cognition Education Chief Executive Dr John Langley.
“In the past the majority of educational thought leadership was based on ideology rather than evidence. One of the main aims of the Institute is to support the research that is required to provide that evidence.
“Nothing like this has existed before and we see it having a great impact on the sector.”
The Cognition Institute’s mission is to inform and influence discussion, practice and policy in education, based on high quality research and evidence.
The Institute was launched last night at a gala dinner at the Auckland Museum celebrating Cognition’s twenty years of providing significant educational services in New Zealand and overseas.
The event was attended by many educational and business leaders, including the Minister of Education, Anne Tolley.
“The outstanding work done over the years by Cognition has built us into a major force in educational services internationally and is allowing us to fund the Institute,” said Dr Langley.
“As a charitable trust, we are committed to giving as much back to the educational community as possible and the Institute is one of the ways we achieve this.”
Cognition Education is New Zealand’s leading independent education services and consultancy provider, as well as being New Zealand’s largest education exporter.
