Ministry welcomes postponement of strike
The
Ministry of Education has welcomed the PPTA’s decision to
postpone its planned strike for this Thursday 14
October.
“We’re very pleased that the PPTA has called off this Thursday’s strike for year 11 classes. This means the two parties can get back to the bargaining table,” said Fiona McTavish, Group Manager Education Workforce.
“We’re sure that schools, families and communities will be equally pleased by the decision”.
Fiona McTavish said that the Ministry and the PPTA would return to bargaining as soon as possible.
“It’s only at the bargaining table that we can make any progress on the issues that matter,” she said.
“The Ministry will continue to work with the PPTA towards a realistic settlement on behalf of teachers and their employers”.
