Education plan delivering for Pasifika students
Karen Sewell, Secretary for Education, has welcomed a new report which shows that since 2008, Pasifika students have demonstrated progress against most of the targets in the The Pasifika Education Plan 2009-2012.
The Pasifika Education Plan Monitoring Report 2009 is the first public report measuring progress against the targets in the Plan.
Karen Sewell says she is pleased with the progress and highlighted the need to continue the good work.
“The results demonstrate the Ministry’s commitment to being more responsive and effective in meeting the education aspirations of Pasifika people.
“There is still more work to do to reach all the targets identified by the Plan. The education system must work for Pasifika so they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed for themselves, their communities, Aotearoa New Zealand, the Pacific region and the world,” said Karen Sewell.
The Report is now available on the Ministry of Education’s Education Counts website: www.educationcounts.govt.nz
