Kiwi Company Wins International Education Technology Award
Learning Media Limited has won an international industry award for its interactive whiteboard reading comprehension resource.
Strategy Zone today received a Distinguished Achievement Technology Award from the American Association of Educational Publishers (AEP).
The AEP Awards have been called the Academy
Awards® for the educational resource community. One of the
largest and longest-running awards programmes for
educational products, the AEP Awards recognise the most innovative and groundbreaking education
products
internationally. AEP is supported by nearly
400 print and digital publishers of all sizes and in all
media.
Strategy Zone helps teachers to improve students' literacy, specifically their reading comprehension ability, through digital texts that can be used on interactive whiteboards, data projectors or computers in classrooms. Its main focus is on exploring and using the key comprehension strategies that students need to meet the reading requirements of the New Zealand Curriculum.
The customised software allows teachers to design lessons based on the real learning needs of their students. Using engaging features such as drag-and-drop of text and images and other embedded interactive elements, Strategy Zone supports students to explore and use targeted comprehension strategies.
“Effective digital learning tools do more than look flash. They mesh technology with the best research into how good teachers teach and what goes on in the classroom”, says Learning Media Chief Executive, David Glover, who accepted the award at AEP’s annual conference in Washington, DC. Strategy Zone is currently sold in the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
