Aoraki Polytechnic Mid Year Graduation 2012
Aoraki Polytechnic’s Timaru campus will be buzzing with excitement as over 70 students from Timaru, Oamaru and Ashburton prepare to celebrate their success at Aoraki Polytechnic’s mid year graduation today, Thursday 19 July at Aoraki’s Timaru campus gymnasium.
This is the first time a mid year graduation has occurred at Aoraki Polytechnic. Chief Executive Kay Nelson said this was due to the increased number of mid year offerings.
“We have put on a lot of additional courses particularly in the trades area in our efforts to support the rebuild of Christchurch and national skill shortage areas.”
Timaru District Councillor Tracy Tierney is the guest speaker for the ceremony and will speak to graduands about her role as a councillor, a business consultant and being a partner at South Canterbury One to One Group, an accounting and financial planning firm.
Programmes graduating include Café and Barista, Cookery, Bakery, Patisserie, Makeup Artistry, Science, Animal Care, Parenting and Care of Children, Brick Block and Paving, Electrical, Carpentry, Engineering, Beauty Skills, First Line Management, Business Ownership, ICT, Information Systems Development.
Nelson said this was a great chance to celebrate the students’ success.
“Holding a graduation at mid year as well as end of year enables students the chance to celebrate their achievements before they head away or get busy with jobs and apprenticeships.”
