The New Zealand Geographical Society Annual Awards, 2012

The New Zealand Geographical Society (NZGS) is very pleased to announce its Annual Awards for 2012. These are as follows;

Distinguished New Zealand Geographer Medal
Professor J. A. (Tony) Binns (University of Otago)
Distinguished Service Award
1. Dr Paul Ashley Keown (University of Waikato)
2. Jane Evans (New Zealand Board of Geography Teachers)
Honorary Life Membership Award
June Logie (University of Auckland)
President’s Award for Best Doctoral Thesis
1. Dr Alastair J.H. Clement (Massey University)
2. Dr Phil Bartie (University of Canterbury)
President’s Award for Best Masters Thesis
Anne-Marie Elizabeth Snider (Victoria University of Wellington)
Nominees have been presented with these Awards at the Annual General Meeting of the New Zealand Geographical Society, held at the NZGS International Conference in Napier on 4 December 2012, and at individual ceremonies at the beginning of 2013. The NZGS Awards are regarded as prestigious recognitions of excellence in work and service to Geography in New Zealand and internationally.
