Tim Finn to Crown Winner of Red Cross Schools Music Competiton
Legendary New Zealand musician Tim Finn is to visit Hauraki Plains College in Ngatea to present students with the top prize for the New Zealand Red Cross “I See Red School Music Video Challenge”.
The former Split Enz lead singer judged the competition, which asked students to create their own version of the song “I See Red”, as part of the Red Cross annual appeal week.
Mr Finn says it was interesting to see what schools did with his song.
“Some of the others had lyrics that serve Red Cross well, but musically I lean towards Hauraki Plains, they kind of stayed true to the chords and the melody,” he says.
Tim Finn will visit Hauraki Plains College on Wednesday 3 July to present the trophy and watch the winning students perform his song live.
He will then meet with senior music students and the winning group.
The award for most creative video went to Clayton Park School in Manukau, Auckland.
