Novopay bugs continue despite focus shift
Novopay bugs continue despite focus shift
Novopay is still a mess despite the all the effort and resources that have been thrown at the flawed payroll system.
NZEI Te Riu Roa National Secretary Paul Goulter says it is premature to be chasing school staff for overpayments while so many problems still remain.
He says NZEI’s member support service has had calls from teachers and support staff upset at the way the Ministry of Education is dealing with this while so many other issues are still outstanding.
“Even in the last few payrolls, there have been major bugs. Staff in almost 5 percent of schools are still being affected by wrong payments. For instance in last week’s payroll nine staff were not paid, 90 were overpaid, and 77 underpaid.
“Of course we agree that overpayments need to be sorted but there are many other problems still affecting the payroll system that need sorting first.”
“It appears that at least half the staff overpaid have not yet been informed by the Ministry. In many cases issues of overpayment have resulted from compounding errors and teachers and support staff have been unaware they’ve been overpaid.”
