Happy last day of term from Deconstructing Paris!
Happy last day of term from Deconstructing Paris!
Thank you for all your hard work over the last three months. We have made fantastic progress with our task and the website is ticking over nicely.
Making our voice heard on New Zealand's INDC - 97 Submissions
As most of you would have
seen, in the last week we drafted a submission to the New Zealand Government
on the climate change target post-2020.
Thanks to a
nifty web app, some good publicity and support from you, we
are pleased to announce that 97 New Zealanders got behind
our submission!!!
We aimed to provide a realistic and legally grounded assessment of New Zealand's obligations and believe our message was loud and clear.
While we cannot promise that the government will take what we or any of the other submitters had to say into account, we can promise to keep you up to date with the outcome of the consultation process and any responses provided by the government...so keep your eyes peeled!
Deconstructing Paris over June, July and Looking Forward
Looking forward to June and July, we want to get as much new content on the website as possible.
That means we want your Environmental Law essays (in part or full), any short pieces you have time to do when you're bored in the holidays, or any other pieces of news, analysis or commentary that you are able to provide. Simply sitting down for an hour to explain a concept referenced in the text or an article you've seen in the media would be enormously beneficial.
On that note, if you have content, or are willing to put some time aside to publish a work, please upload it to the Dropbox or alternative email it to deconstructparis2015@gmail.com.
Exciting New Ideas
For those among you who like to have your finger on the pulse, you may be interested to hear that we are beginning to look at some side projects to piggy-back off Deconstructing Paris. We have had some support from members for a local initiative targeting divestment at Victoria; a mobile app designed to provide facts about the negotiations, easy access to the texts, targeted twitter feeds and simple analysis; and, also a comic strip highlighting critical climate negotiation issues. If you are interested in being involved in any of these projects, please let us know!
Once again, thanks for being part of our initiative. Please keep telling your friends about our project and spreading our net wider when you can. Remember there are only 25 weeks until Paris!
All the best and good luck with your exams,
ENDS
