Early Childhood Education experts gather in Christchurch

Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand is excited to be able to host world renowned early childhood education (ECE) experts at it’s 52ndAnnual Conference and AGM, Fri 3 – Sat 4 July.

Our programme this year promises to be both future focused and provocative, Chief Executive, Nancy Bell says.

“Professor Joe Tobin from the University of Georgia is one of five great keynotes. He has written many compelling books that include titles such as .” Pikachu’s Global Adventure: The Rise and Fall of Pokemon, and Good Guys Don't Wear Hats: Children's Talk about the Media. We’re expecting him to challenge our thinking about quality ECE and what this means across cultures.”

• Professor Joe Tobin, University of Georgia (How an Anthropologist thinks about Quality in Early Childhood Education and Care)

• Hana O'Regan, Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) (Mā kā pakiaka te rākau e tū ai)

• Professor Margaret Carr, University of Waikato (Critical, creative and contributing learners: strengthening their pathway)

• Associate Professor Susan Edwards, ACU Australian Catholic University (Thinking about digital media and popular culture in the early years: towards an understanding of digital play)

• Hon Nicky Wagner, Member of Parliament

Delegates will hear five keynote speakers and 25 workshops with a mix of researched-based theory, and practical advice that ECE teachers can apply directly in their centres.
