21 July 2015
Hon Steven Joyce, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment announced a new Ministerial appointment to the combined Council of WelTec and Whitireia, Jackie Lloyd.
Jackie is Deputy Chair of New Zealand Post Group, a trustee of the Wellington Museums Trust and the Lion Foundation, Chair of the State Services Commission Risk and Audit Committee and a business advisor. She previously served as global human resources director for the New Zealand Dairy Board and NZMP Fonterra, and subsequently as a consultant and New Zealand country manager for Hewitt Associates and The Gallup Organisation.
“I am very pleased to welcome Jackie Lloyd to the Council. Her governance skills and business acumen will be appreciated on the Council. With oversight of two large tertiary education institutions delivering to the Wellington region and the major new development of the Centre for Creative Technologies & Arts underway the Council will benefit from having its full complement of eight members in place,” says Roger Sowry, Chair of the Council of WelTec and Whitireia.
“It’s an exciting time for Whitireia and WelTec as we move forward with our plans to invest more than $20M into the creation of a world class campus in the heart of Wellington’s CBD to house WelTec and Whitireia’s creative technologies and applied arts programmes.
“I am sure that having Jackie on the Council, particularly with her interest in the Wellington Museums Trust will mean she will make an excellent contribution to this fantastic development,” says Mr Sowry.
