Nominations Open for the 2016 SBS Bank Hawke’s Bay Secondary School Sports Awards
The 2016 SBS Bank Hawke’s Bay Secondary School Sports Awards nomination period opened today (Monday, August 22nd) and will close on Friday, September 23rd.
The awards, set to take place on 31st October at the Napier Municipal Theatre, will recognise the outstanding achievement by secondary school students, coaches, officials and volunteers in the region.
This years’ awards are divided into two divisions; the top ten category and the major awards. The top ten categories recognises the top male and/or females from the top 10 participated sports in Hawke’s Bay which include netball, rugby, football, hockey, basketball, volleyball, cricket, tennis and touch.
The major awards will be the following categories: Student Contribution to Secondary Schools Sport Award, Service to Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Sport Award, Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Team of the Year Award, Contribution to Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Coaching Award, Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Official of the Year, Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Disabled Sportsperson of the Year, Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Female Sportsperson of the Year Award, Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Male Sportsperson of the Year Award and the SBS Bank Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Supreme Award.
Last year, the Secondary School Sports Awards saw over 130 secondary school students nominated throughout Hawke’s Bay compete over 22 categories.
Performances during the period of 26th September 2015 to 23rd September 2016 will be the sole basis for nomination and selection for the 2016 awards. Only schools can nominate for the awards and each nominee must be endorsed by the principal of that school. Finalists for the awards will be announced after 2nd October.
