ASB and RainbowYOUTH Tertiary Scholarship 2017 Now Open

For immediate release 29th September 2016

Applications to ASB Unity Network and RainbowYOUTH's Tertiary Scholarship are now open, offering tertiary students studying in 2017 $NZ2,500 towards their studies.

The scholarship comes after the ASB Unity Network was awarded the Australia/New Zealand award for promoting diversity from parent company, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. This is the second year the scholarship is being offered, and RainbowYOUTH and ASB are looking for applicants with a strong history of volunteering in rainbow communities across Aotearoa.

The scholarship is open to any student who is enrolling/enrolled in full time study at any tertiary level, has volunteered within the Rainbow* community in the last 12 months, and intends to continue volunteer work while studying.

Recipients of the 2016 scholarships, Brodie Fraser (Political Science, Victoria University, Wellington) and Caitlyn Drinkwater (Doctorate of Clinical Psychology, University of Auckland), both have considerable histories volunteering in the rainbow communities of Auckland and Wellington.

“I’m very proud that ASB chose to offer this scholarship with RainbowYOUTH to those who are volunteering in our communities, work which often goes unrecognised,” says Duncan Matthews, Executive Director of RainbowYOUTH.

“The tertiary nature of the scholarship has the added benefit of supporting those who are working to create long term change at a high level through research or career development”.
