Official Opening Of Whitby Collegiate Award Winning Ioane Fiso Pavilion Block
The Whitby Collegiate School community will celebrate the official opening of its award winning Ioane Fiso Pavilion Block on Wednesday 6 July.
School Proprietor Fiso John Fiso said, “This is a great building that brings a new sense of confidence, pride, and belonging to our Whitby Collegiate students, staff and community.”
“Not only is the school building inspired by its surroundings in park like grounds , it was designed by Wellington based Andrew Sexton Architecture, who were acknowledged by the Wellington Branch of the NZ Architects Institute as the education category winner at the Embassy Theatre on 29 June.
“The school acknowledges the outstanding contribution of Andrew Sexton and his team from Andrew Sexton Architecture.
“Whitby Collegiate would also like to acknowledge Andrew Leslie from Progressive Homes and Chair of Whitby Collegiate Parents’ Association Sue Payne for all their support of the school development and overall school beautification programme.
“The building, that houses the new classroom block and a new basketball court with reconstituted pathways and landscaping, marks the beginning of the school’s new aspirational building programme aimed to strongly reflect the educational excellence the school enjoys.
“It also caters for the growth of the school as more parents recognise some of the best academic results in the country, coupled together with a faith based education, and a commitment to growing our next leaders,” Fiso John Fiso said.
A second Pavilion is now underway together with a science block and additional classrooms to be completed by the beginning of 2023.
