Wintec Continues To Strengthen Its Relationships In China

Wintec continues to strengthen its relationships internationally, signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Changzhou College of Information Technology (CCIT) in Hamilton last week.
The agreement formally recognises areas in which both institutes would like to cooperate, including academic exchange, sharing of educational resources, and conducting joint research initiatives.
The visiting delegation from CCIT, who travelled from China for the signing, received a warm welcome to Wintec’s City Campus on Friday with a pōwhiri at Te Kōpū Mānia o Kirikiriroa Marae.
Members of Wintec’s leadership team met with the visiting delegation to explore potential collaboration opportunities moving forward and to discuss the current landscape of the vocational education sector in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Dr Te Urikore Biddle, Executive Director – Strategy, Performance, and Enterprise, addressed the group, acknowledging the value of vocational education internationally and reflecting on Wintec’s six-year working partnership with CCIT.
“Wintec was proud to have hosted members of your [CCIT] faculty in 2019, delivering advanced training in industry-focused curriculum design, student-centred learning, and digital teaching resource development.
“The partnership between Changzhou College of Information Technology and Wintec is one we hold in the highest regard.
“We are looking forward to exploring potential future opportunities for collaborations.”
Te Urikore was joined by Tao Dawei, CCIT Vice President, in signing the MoU.
Following the signing ceremony, Te Urikore and Tao exchanged gifts on behalf of their respective institutes, a common tradition in China and observed by Wintec.
The delegation also had the opportunity to see Wintec's commitment to fostering cultural diversity on its campuses first-hand by experiencing a student dumpling-making event, hosted by Wintec’s International team.
