Port Nelson Partners With Whenua Iti Outdoors To Support Local Youth
Whenua Iti Outdoors (WIO) is proud to announce a new two-year sponsorship agreement with Port Nelson Limited (PNL), strengthening opportunities for young people across Te Tauihu (Top of the South Island)
The two-year partnership will see Port Nelson contribute $10,000 annually to support youth programmes delivered by Whenua Iti Outdoors. A key focus of the sponsorship is ensuring that funding is directed towards participants who may require financial assistance to take part in WIO’s transformative outdoor education programmes.
“Access to the outdoors, and the personal growth that comes from it, should not be limited by financial barriers,” said Mark Bruce-Miller, CEO of Whenua Iti Outdoors. “We are incredibly grateful to Port Nelson for their commitment to ensuring more young people can experience the benefits of adventure, challenge and connection that come through our programmes,” he said.
PNL Chief Executive Matt McDonald said the partnership reflects the organisation’s strong focus on community support, “At Port Nelson, we’re proud that this partnership can contribute to greater wellbeing and opportunity for young people in our region."
“The outdoor experiences provided by WIO help develop resilience, confidence, leadership, and a deeper connection to the environment. These are skills that strengthen not only individuals but our wider community.”
This sponsorship marks a significant step in ensuring that regardless of their circumstances more young people from Te Tauihu can access the outdoors and build skills that last a lifetime.
