Guide Dog street appeal success thanks to volunteers support

Thanks to more than 3000 volunteers nationwide and public generosity the Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind has more than met its target for the Guide Dog Appeal street collections.

The regional street collections have raised to date:
$75,897 Auckland/Northland
$18,002 Waikato
$25,982 Bay of Plenty
$19,975 Hawkes Bay
$53,031 Wellington
$13,420 Nelson/Marlborough
$58,156 Christchurch/West Coast
$39,953 Otago/Southland

$304,416 Total

In addition, our gold guide dog badges sold through Foodtown, Countdown and The Warehouse have raised $56,660, our direct mailout has raised $169,629 and our mail drop to selected residential letterboxes has raised $81,219 (with further income still to come from these three initiatives).

This brings the grand total to date to $611,924.

“This is a wonderful response from guide dog supporters and we are still receiving donations from around the country,” says Jeanette Manson, RNZFB National Manager Fundraising Division.

“We are especially grateful to our volunteers for their time and our sponsor CourierPost who made the delivery and return of collection materials a breeze!”

The money raised will go to Guide Dog Services and other essential RNZFB services that enable blind and sight-impaired individuals to meet their challenges of sight loss and maintain their independence.

A final total will be released next month.
