Who Wants To Drown This Labour Weekend – It’s Easy
Hands Up Who Wants To Drown This Labour Weekend – It’s
Dead Easy!!!
Labour Weekend is the start of summer and traditionally coincides with a re-focus on aquatic activities.
However, it also signals the start of the drowning season as recreational boaties take to the water, Kayakers pull out their paddles, holiday makers head for the beach, and the masses flock to the local river, creek or stream for picnics, swimming and a general good time.
So far this year 98 people have drowned in New Zealand. Based on historical figures that number will exceed 100 before the end of Labour Weekend and another 30 people will drown by New Years eve.
Alan Muir, executive director Water Safety New Zealand stated “With water safety services hamstrung by resourcing constraints, Water Safety New Zealand is pleading for people to take care of themselves and other they are responsible for this weekend and throughout summer”.
Hands up who wants to drown this Labour Weekend!!!
