November 2002 Gas Supply Constraint Update
Maui Gas Field: November 2002 Gas Supply Constraint
Update
Maui Development Limited (MDL) today updated the potential for Maui gas restrictions in November, caused by essential maintenance work on the Maui production facilities. This follows MDL's initial announcement on 27 August 2002.
MDL spokesman Simon King said the updated situation was essentially the same as that announced in August, and MDL was hopeful that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, disruption would be minimal.
"A complete outage of the Maui B platform is planned from 16 to 23 November, during which time Maui production will be solely from the Maui A platform.
"Testing of the Maui A platform wells over Labour weekend has indicated that Maui A capacity may be at or close to the maximum capacity required under the Maui Gas Contract with the Crown for the whole of November.
"Maintenance work will commence on 4th November, as planned, at the onshore production facility at Oaonui, and will continue through to 4th December.
"MDL is now hopeful that the essential maintenance work will have minimal impact on downstream customers of the Crown over the period.
"MDL will keep the Crown informed of any developments which may change this scenario," Mr King said.
