People need intensive rehabilitation for varying lengths of time, so 20 places is able to support a considerable number of service users. This will allow the estimated 20 to 30 percent of people who are inappropriately placed in acute services to move into a more appropriate intensive care environment freeing those beds for the acutely unwell.
