Nurse Maude Responds to Nurses’ Vote

Nurse Maude Responds to Nurses’ Vote
06 August 2004
For immediate release

Nurse Maude Association Chief Executive Officer Ingrid Thomas is disappointed to learn the Association’s nurses have voted to take industrial action.

“It is unfortunate that this situation has developed. From the start of negotiations in March, we have been genuine in our endeavours to settle the contract,” Mrs Thomas says.

At this stage the Nurse Maude Association has not received formal notification of industrial action from the Nurses organisation.

She says that Nurse Maude highly values its nurses, but unfortunately did not have the budget to meet their claim. “Our nurses are the heart of the organisation. We recognise their dedication, skill and commitment,” she says

Nurse Maude has begun planning to ensure patient care is maintained should industrial action occur.

“Patients are our priority,” Ingrid Thomas says. “Nurse Maude will be doing everything to ensure we continue to deliver our excellent standard of patient care. ”

The threatened industrial action would only affect the nursing service. For all other Nurse Maude services it will be business as usual if industrial action occurs.

“Nurse Maude is doing all it can to avert any inconvenience to its patients, their families and its other staff.”
