Merry Christmas Medical Students
The New Zealand Medical Association (NZMA) has strongly criticised the Tertiary Education Commission decision to allow Auckland University to raise medical students fees by 10% next year.
“The so-called “fee maxima” policy is dead, as far as medical students are concerned.” said Dr Tricia Briscoe, NZMA Chairman. “Coming on top of last week’s decision to allow Otago to raise medical students’ fees by 10%, it makes a mockery of the Government’s policy of maximum increases of 5%”.
“Medical students already carry huge debt burdens and this decision will just add to their problems” said Dr Briscoe. “The government must work with the Universities to address this crazy situation”.
