General practice values endorsed
The New Zealand Medical Association has fully endorsed today’s statement on the value of general practice by the Royal New Zealand College of General Practice.
Peter Foley, Chairman of the NZMA General Practitioner Council, said it was a landmark declaration of the factors critical to a thriving primary health sector.
“General practice is such a long established core of primary health that it is at risk of being taken for granted.
“This statement specifies exactly why general practice is central to community health, and the factors that are fundamental to its strength,” Dr Foley said.
