Frontrunners Website Launch

Frontrunners, the first-ever Deaf International Leadership Training Programme is being held in Vejle, Denmark from September 1st-15th December 2005.

In this 15-week programme, 12 young people have been selected from all over the world to learn about Deaf Culture, History, Identity, the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) (a Deaf political organization equivalent in status to the United Nations).

Amanda Everitt, a 4th year BA/LLB student at the University of Auckland is a participant in this programme. Amanda has been responsible for providing a New Zealand perspective onto the world stage. With the upcoming New Zealand Sign Language Bill, this has never been so important. (Seehttp://www.odi.govt.nz/whats-happening/work-programmes/nzsl.html)

Frontrunners have created an innovative new website: http://www.frontblog.dk

What's unique about this website?

Information is presented in International Sign Language, so Deaf people from ALL over the world can access the same information in sign language. English text accompanies the sign language videos. (Broadband connection recommended)

This is the first ever effort to create a site from where Deaf Youths can gain new information and discuss ideas on an international level. Deaf Youth can access information in SIGN LANGUAGE! The website covers a lot of modern day issues about Deaf Communities and what Youths think about these issues.

Have a look at this website, you will find out something new about Deaf Culture!
