Foundation Seeks 100 Families In 100 Days

Christchurch families in crisis need urgent help says charitable trust.

Christchurch, 3 November 2005. - The Open Home Foundation has launched a "100 by 100" programme, a drive to increase the numbers of families available to provide foster care to local children in need.

"We desperately require more families willing to provide foster care for Christchurch children facing difficult family situations," says Anna-Clare Dyer from the Foundation.

The Trust is seeking to increase its pool of families, who provide anything from overnight to long term care, to more than 100 over the next 100 days.

"Canterbury may have experienced economic growth in recent years, but there are still large numbers of families in urgent need of assistance. We are currently unable to cope with the demand for foster care.

"Foster care is challenging for any family but brings enormous rewards in terms of the impact you can have on a child's life."

Families wanting more information about the programme can contact The Open Home Foundation on 366-5977. ABOUT THE OPEN HOME FOUNDATION
