“NUPE clerical and information services workers facign real pay cuts in negotiations with the Canterbury District Health Board are rallying at 12.15 today opposite the Emergency Department of Christchurch Hospital” said Martin Cooney, Organiser with the National Union of Public Employees (NUPE) today.
“Members have prepared various messages for the Government for tomorrow’s budget:
“HEALTH STAFF- FRONT ROW 4 PANDEMIC, BACK OF Q 4 PAY RISE,”
CLERICAL PAY-DEMIC - HELEN'S WASHED HER HANDS”
“8% PAY CUT - I'LL TAKE A TAX CUT!”
“HEALTH PAY CUTS; OZ TAX CUTS – WHERE THE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU?”, “ said Martin Cooney.
“The Health Boards are struggling with waiting list culls, preparation for pandemics and less than inflation grants for salaries,” said Martin Cooney. “The Budget is the time to fix these.”
