Women’s Health Action supports the decision by PHARMAC and DHBNZ not to fund Herceptin at this time.
Women’s Health Action director, Jo Fitzpatrick says that her organisation has been concerned about the lack of current research data and the high cost of the drug.
‘As a women’s health organisation we find ourselves in a tricky position because it’s our job to give women accurate health information and advocate for women’s health. However, as an evidence-based organisation, we find it difficult to justify funding for Herceptin at this time.
