NZMA welcomes laboratory services arrangement
The New Zealand Medical Association has welcomed today’s announcement by Auckland Regional DHBs that agreement has been reached to provide interim full laboratory services across the Auckland region.
“The people of Auckland, along with the doctors and other health professionals, needed this reassurance that their laboratory services would continue from 1 July,” said NZMA Chairman Dr Ross Boswell.
“We now look forward to the DHBs making prudent long-term arrangements for the provision of laboratory services which meet the ongoing needs of Auckland people.
“The judge’s decision last week on the laboratory contract process was a wake-up call for the DHBs involved. It’s now up to them to show that they have learnt from the earlier process and proceed in a sensible way with appropriate consultation," Dr Boswell concluded.
