Grey Power Heartened
Grey Power New Zealand Federation president, Mr Graham Stairmand, today stated that Grey Power is greatly heartened by the Minister of Health’s announcement of the largest ever investment in care and support of the elderly, involving $150 million over four years invested in residential care, and another $81.2 million in helping the elderly stay in their own home.
“We also applaud the fact that there is another $128 million over four years to allow the amounts to be indexed to inflation.” said Mr Stairmand. “The government, in making this announcement, has shown real concern for the plight of the elderly and this will be greatly appreciated by this ever increasing sector of the population. We have in the past pressed for adjustments like these just made and wish to make our appreciation of this action known. This funding will certainly go a long way to make the elderly population more comfortable in their retirement.”
