Chief Medical Advisor Resigns
Waikato District Health Board chief medical advisor Pim Allen has resigned so she can get more balance into her life.
Dr Allen, who joined the DHB in March 2004, is going to take six months off after she finishes in August.
She and her husband Stuart will be based in Queenstown where the couple have a holiday home.
“I need to re-balance my life a bit. My husband has been working in Auckland and I’ve been here in Hamilton and Invercargill.”
Dr Allen has been working on secondment to the Southland DHB for two days a week and will continue that work when she leaves Waikato.
“In the last seven months we’ve only seen each other for two weekends a month,” she said.
Both have decided they want to reduce their working commitments so they can spend more time with each other and do a bit of travelling together.
“Waikato has been a great experience. There is some really superb medical staff here – both junior and senior – with hearts in the right place.
“I have been so excited to see people maturing from a medical management perspective and taking on more leadership roles,” she said.
Dr Allen said she hoped she had demonstrated there was a place for a chief medical advisor and that the role could advance quality patient care in partnership and with the support of those on the front line.
