Do Your Heart a Favour on and Off the Field
Come Along and Do Your Heart a Favour on and Off the Field for the National Heart Foundation
Sunday 3 June from 12:30pm at Kilbirnie Park, Wellington
Sevens jerseys signed by the players, autographed All Blacks’ and Olympians’ Books, a flat screen television, mobile phones and full team kits are just some of the items up for auction this Queen’s Birthday weekend at Wellington’s Kilbirnie Park. The Park will host Presidents Day 2007 with players and supporters raising awareness and funds for The National Heart Foundation.
Former All Black John Schuster will MC a fundraising auction after the rugby tournament to raise funds for the National Heart Foundation. Then the soulful mix of R&B, country and bluegrass belonging to Lafaele and the The Val Doonicans will follow into the evening.
The Heart Foundation is committed to improving heart health through funding vital research, advancing cardiac rehabilitation and promoting healthy lifestyle choices. The Foundation relies on the generosity of the public via events such as Presidents Day 2007 to support its life-saving work.
Not only is the event an opportunity to raise funds for the National Heart Foundation but is also an opportunity to promote Presidents’ Rugby. Open to players aged thirty and above Presidents Rugby fosters an active healthy lifestyle through the mid stages of life. Promoting community, fitness and rugby is key to both supporters and teams. It is a grade of rugby where all teams compete to win but one which promotes a strong philosophy of inclusiveness ensuring everybody gets a run.
With kick off at 12.30pm the games will be followed by festivities including the fundraising auction. So come along and be a part of the celebrations on the day. You’ll be doing your heart a favour!
ENDS
Home team Marist St Pat’s extends a warm welcome to all and encourages any donations of items or services for the event and auction to go to Dominic Cavanagh on 021 525 067.
