Nominations Open for Southland DHB Candidates Friday

Southlanders interested in standing for the local District Health Board elections in October can formally put their name into the hat starting this Friday 27 July, when nominations officially open.
DHB Elections take place every three years and are again being conducted alongside the local council elections via postal system.
A total of 11 board members are required for each DHB. Seven are elected through the election process and four additional members are appointed by the Minister of Health. The Minister also appoints the chairman and deputy chairman for each DHB.
Nominations are open from 27 July and close at midday on Friday 24 August 2007.
Members of the community considering standing for Southland District Health Board can access more information about the DHB, the election process and the key dates by visiting www.sdhb.govt.nz or by calling the SDHB office on 03 214 7224 to have an information pack sent out to them.
Members of the public are also welcome to attend the next monthly public board meeting on 9 August at 12.30pm in the Community Services Building - on site at Southland Hospital.
