ACC Launches New Research Fund
A new contestable research fund has been established by the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).
“The fund is being established to encourage more research into a number of key areas that face ACC and the diverse communities it serves, both now and into a rapidly changing demographic and technological future”, said Dr Jan White, ACC Chief Executive.
Under the new contestable fund ACC has allocated $600,000 for a number of small-to-medium sized projects that should be completed by June 2009. Including this new fund ACC now spends about $11 million per year on a wide range of research.
ACC has identified the following key areas in which it wishes to invest:
- Rehabilitation and injury prevention in an aging population.
- Understanding factors that will reduce disparities in access to the ACC Scheme.
- Development and testing of innovative approaches to the purchasing or delivery of treatment or rehabilitation services.
“The outcomes of the research programme will play an essential role in providing data and insights which will enhance the delivery of services to these communities”, Dr White added.
ACC will advertise its ACC Contestable Funding 2007 on the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS) and in public notices in the national press during August and September.
