Shellfish Warning Lifted
The Health Protection Unit’s of Taranaki, Waikato and MidCentral District Health Boards today lifted a public health warning against collecting or consuming shellfish along a section of the west coast.
The area affected is from the Kawhia Harbour entrance south to North Mole in Wanganui.
Signage is in the process of being removed from the coastline and all major stakeholders have been informed. Regular testing of shellfish will continue to ensure that any increases in toxin levels are detected promptly.
We would like to thank the public for their co-operation during the event.
