Westpac Rescue Helicopter transports Two from Serious Car Accident
The Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter is currently transporting a second patient from a serious car accident south of Featherston in the Wairarapa.
The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard, was sent to the accident on Kahutara Road, just south of Judd Road, around 1:30 this afternoon.
When we arrived the Wairarapa Ambulance Service was treating a seriously injured woman who was the driver of the car which appears to have rolled several times, ending up in a paddock.
The woman, believed to be in her 30's, was suffering from head and chest injuries.
As we understand it there were three children in the vehicle with the woman, all whom have been transported by road ambulance to Masterton Hospital.
Soon after arriving in Wellington Hospital we were requested to bring a Wellington Hospital specialist flight ICU doctor and nurse to Masterton to collect a four year old child who had been injured in the same accident. The team is currently in Masterton stabilising the child prior to returning to Wellington ICU.
The woman is being treated in Wellington Hospital Emergency Department for her injuries.
