Former Plunket president receives one of New Zealand's highest honours

Kaye Crowther, former National President of Plunket, has been honoured as a recipient of the Queens Service Order (QSO) for services to children and the community.

"This is such a great honour", said Kaye, who received her medal today at a ceremony held at Government House. "Our children are our greatest gift and to be honoured for being a passionate supporter of Plunket and advocating for children's rights is fabulous".

Mrs Crowther completed her term as Plunket's National President in May 2007. She had been involved with Plunket for 33 years when she first joined as a new mother. While Kaye is no longer on Plunket's board she is still a strong supporter of Plunket and is a founding trustee of the Plunket Foundation, which will be launched later this year. In addition, Kaye is also an active member in her own community and serves on the Southland District Health Board.

Paul Baigent, CEO of Plunket, says that Kaye has always been committed to the cause of helping children and young families." It is fantastic that Kaye has been awarded this distinction for all the wonderful work she has done for our country's children over the years".

Mrs Crowther is the third Plunket president to receive the Queens Service Order, Mrs Joyce Andrews, who served from 1978 to 1991, and Mrs Merle Newlove (1997 – 1999) also received the honour.
