CanTeen Reaches One Thousand

News Alert 10 June 2008

CanTeen Reaches One Thousand

CanTeen is the national peer support network, for young people living with cancer and has just reached over 1000 members.

The charity is fast growing and recognised as the only non-profit organisation in New Zealand working with and for the “lost generation” of 13-24yr olds living with cancer.

CanTeen has recently made developments within its structure by appointing Roger Hill as its Chief Executive. Previously Mr. Hill was CanTeen National Manager and reported to The Child Cancer Foundation. This newly created position sees him reporting to the CanTeen Board.

``CanTeen is a member-driven and governed organisation, so the new changes further cement our independence and critical role within New Zealand as the only support network catering for adolescents through their struggle with cancer. A key part of my role is to help in the development of CanTeen’s Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Strategy. Our main aim is to improve treatment outcomes for young people living with cancer,’’ says Roger Hill Chief Executive of CanTeen.

CanTeen has this year increased its network to 13 offices nationally and works specifically for patients, siblings and bereaved siblings 13-24 years. For more information people are urged to visit the CanTeen website www.canteen.org.nz.
