WFA CE resigns
WFA CE resigns
After over three years at the helm of Wellington Free Ambulance, chief executive John Britton has resigned.
“Mr Britton has led Wellington Free Ambulance through both changes and challenges, including overseeing the continuing development of WFA’s patient care performance, the co-implementation of a national joint venture ambulance communications centre and strengthening WFA’s financial control and performance,” said WFA chairman Shaan Stevens.
“John has been an effective and innovative leader. Under his guidance Wellington Free Ambulance has built an enviable reputation for excellence in the provision of emergency healthcare.”
Mr Stevens said the outgoing chief executive had also facilitated a coordinated sector-wide approach to delivering healthcare, with the aim of avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions.
“He has overseen the development of some exciting new initiatives and he leaves Wellington Free Ambulance well-placed to take on the new challenges and opportunities we foresee for the ambulance sector.”
Mr Britton’s resignation is effective from February 17.
“We wish him well in his future endeavours,” Mr Stevens said.
Internationally experienced, existing general manager ambulance services (GMAS), Alan O’Beirne will be acting CE from that date.
Mr O’Beirne has been involved in the ambulance sector for 31 years. Most recently he was the director of operations for Gloucester Ambulance Service in the United Kingdom.
