ESR tests confirm one case of Influenza A (H1N1) in Hawke’s Bay
Results of tests taken
last week from the performing arts student group who had
returned last Tuesday from a trip to North America has
confirmed one of the group from Lindisfarne College positive
for Influenza A (H1N1).
Caroline McElnay, HBDHB’s Medical Officer of Health says “Precautionary steps taken last week to identify suspect cases, isolate them and their contacts and treat with Tamiflu have been proven to be absolutely the right steps to have taken.”
Public Health Unit staff continue to monitor and manage members of the school group who are in isolation. Currently Hawke’s Bay has 4 suspect cases and 53 people in isolation.
